Burke Road

a dog estranged from its owner

crevasses in a black totem

whoosh of traffic, a tide pulled by amber moon

a surprised grey heron

graffiti below the waterline

wasp nests in the alcoves

around a pillar, private contemplation on a tilted ledge

sun peeking between clouds, momentary glimmer on the corrugations, a light show for one

the burble and short-lived bubbles of interrupted current

the pull of the water

the desire to jump in camera and all and be carried downstream
